Passion Blossoms
An email with some images, a couple of years ago, made me decide to visit Ronald Westerhuis in his Dutch studio. I was immediately taken by his monumental abstract stainless steel objects, designed with such thought, to stand out in landscapes or suburban enclosures, when touched by sun light they reflected a heightened spirit and energy.

‘Welcome to the Third Millennium’
On The Court by Mike Roles
This is the first in a series of major shows at Broomhill as this celebration year represents the starting point for the development of three sites in the garden, enabling Broomhill to present their audience with a unique series of exhibitions, showcasing the work of independent artists and the Tenfold Collective.
New beginnings, new opportunities for change and for mankind to make the world a better place are upon us, and they are expressed in the form of Roles' sculpture at Broomhill. The exhibition is enhanced by the 40 page fully illustrated catalogue which also includes writing from internationally renowned artist, author and curator Professor Deanna Petherbridge.
Tenfold - Contemporary Bronze Sculpture
Tenfold is a group of artists content to accept the limitations of a traditional framework, without paying particular attention to the current month's art magazines.
The Tenfold artists tend to work figuratively. Most often they are communicating about the experience of being human. They use bronze for their end product for the love of the material and its unique qualities.

Hotel
Broomhill is a late Victorian hotel with five comfortable rooms and an artist’s ‘garret’ room. The rooms are light and airy, with an intimate dining room and, of course, the gallery and works of art around the house to enjoy.
Bed and breakfast rates and some half-board rates are available, with weekend specials. Stay over for a Jazz night.
Broomhill is an approved venue for civil wedding ceremonies and we will be happy to work with you to make your special day very special indeed.
The hotel is ideal for small conferences and meetings with a number of spaces available for use.
All of this in the beautiful and inspiring setting of the sculpture gardens.
“As you’d expect, there are no airs and graces (leave your pearls at home), the atmosphere is completely informal, the food generous, and the wine flows. Bedrooms are simple, warm and comfortable; you might find the odd wobbly shower head [all since replaced!], but in the midst of all this inspirational art, it pales into insignificance. A unique experience.”
From ‘Alastair Sawday's Special Places To Stay’ by Tom Bell
Special Events
Each month we have our very popular jazz evenings; we are an integral part of the annual North Devon Festival - just one of the special events for which Broomhill is renowned.
Broomhill is an active supporter of North Devon Arts.

The Art of Doing
The story of Broomhill is 'The ART of Doing' - a fascinating and personal story. Broomhill is about passion and determination. We have established a wonderful relationship with each and every artist and this has made Broomhill what it is today. With the continuing help from Barry and Frank (both neighbours and crucial members of the team) we know Broomhill's success will continue to blossom in the years to come.
We are only two miles out of Barnstaple and we look forward to welcoming you.
