New Year, New Work 2008

13 Jan - 09 Mar 2008 • Wednesdays to Sundays • 11:00-15:00

Peter Ward - Blue Lagoon

An opportunity to see the freshest work from North Devon Arts (NDA) artists. Ambitious and exciting work will be on show: all of it never seen before at an NDA show.

The exhibition is divided into 3 separate smaller exhibitions, to provide a more considered gallery show, with each artist having their own space. Over 50 artists will be taking part.

The Private Views are as follows:

Who we are

North Devon Arts (NDA) is a friendly, informal network of artists, including, painters, potters, graphic designers, textile artists, writers, sculptors, jewellers, printmakers, furniture makers, photographers, stained glass artists and others with an interest in the arts.

Started in 1998, the group has quickly increased its membership to over 350. The NDA status has also grown and is now well represented on a variety of North Devon organisations that encourage and promote the arts. You do not have to be a practising artist to join - membership is open to everyone.

NDA aims to promote the arts across North Devon by co-operating with other local and national groups and organisations and works closely with the local council through the North Devon Festival.

NDA also supports individual artists in the promotion of their work, as reflected by this portfolio, showing the quality and diverse talents of the membership. Individual members, with help from the committee and other interested members, sometimes embark on projects in and with the wider community, leading to all involved gaining valuable experience.

NDA is well supported by the Broomhill Art Hotel. Most NDA meetings are held at the hotel, as well as two of the group's main exhibitions.

What we do

Exhibitions

The highlight of the NDA year is the annual winter exhibition, generously hosted by the Broomhill Art Hotel. This gives members the opportunity to exhibit their new work in a renowned contemporary art gallery. This event enables artists to receive support and encouragement from colleagues and the public and also provides welcome opportunities for the sharing of ideas and techniques.

In addition, NDA develops and manages exhibitions of members’ work at other times of the year, both at Broomhill and other suitable venues, with which there are established links, plus also looking for new opportunities, i.e. The Appledore Visual Arts Festival, where NDA members this year responded to the festival theme of ‘Wide River’.

Dissemination of Information

All NDA members are sent a monthly e-newsletter giving details of all meetings, exhibitions and general information that is relevant to artists working across the region. Such information includes:
